The best time of year to visit Moraine Lake & Lake Louise is from July until September. Not only will the lakes turn into the beautiful turquoise waters, but the temperatures will be more comfortable, and the many hiking trails will be snow-free.
The most spectacular time of day to visit these lakes are during sunrise and golden hour. Not only will you experience the lights and sounds of nature’s awakening, it is the only opportunity to visit both lakes before the big crowds arrive. Both Moraine Lake & Lake Louise hosts over 4.5 million visitors each summer!
do you provide children's safety seats?
Unfortunately, we do not provide children’s safety seats at this time. If you’re travelling with children who require a children safety seat it is your responsibility to bring this with you. Our drivers are more than happy to give you a hand when installing the safety seat!
is your shuttle wheelchair friendly?
Unfortunately, our shuttles are not equipped with a lift system. However, if you’re able to step into the vehicle our drivers are happy to lend you a hand a store the wheelchair in the back of the vehicle.
Some viewpoint in Banff National Park might be challenging to access with a wheelchair, but it is possible to access the lakeside viewpoints at both Moraine Lake & Lake Louise with a wheelchair.
do i need a banff national park pass?
When you’re travelling with us, you don’t have to worry about it! Via Via Shuttle covers the National Park Entrance fee at a discounted rate for all their guests. However, if you’re planning on accessing the National Park before or after your trip with us you will still be required to purchase a Park Pass.
how much time do i have at each lake?
During this trip you’ll have 2 hours of free time at Moraine Lake and 1 hour of free time at Lake Louise. The perfect amount of time to take the photos you’ve always dreamt of or for a little hike along the lakeshore.
are there many hikes around moraine lake and lake louise?
Absolutely! Both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise are famous for hosting the trailhead of Banff National Park’s most beautiful hikes.

can i rent a canoe at the lakes?
Both lakes have canoe rentals, but unfortunately these only open at 8:30 AM – which is when we’ll be looking for wildlife on our way back.
If canoeing is your priority, we’d suggest one of our other shuttles or tours:
should i bring bear spray?
If you’re planning on hiking we definitely recommend bringing bear spray. Bears are very active in Banff National Park!
Make sure to know how to use bear spray and store it carefully in your backpack during your travel in the shuttle.
are lake louise & moraine lake accessible with personal vehicles?
Moraine Lake is not accessible anymore for personal vehicles since the summer of 2023. Lake Louise is currently still accessible with personal vehicles, however we recommend taking a shuttle to visit Lake Louise if you’re looking to make the most of your time while visiting. Finding parking in Lake Louise is extremely challenging and expensive. Last summer, 1500 – 3000 cars got turned away daily due to full parking lots.
